Geriatric Assistant

The professional training program “Geriatric Assistant” is open to any interested adult who wishes to learn modern approaches to caring for elderly individuals and to acquire practical caregiving skills. The program is suitable for those who want to work at home or in various institutions, such as nursing homes, shelters, community organizations, or residential facilities.
Upon completing the course, participants will acquire all the necessary competencies required by the job market, enabling them to become competitive professionals and ensuring successful employment both in Georgia and abroad.
The program lasts 8 weeks, with a total of 146 hours. Training is scheduled 5 days per week, 4 hours per day. The theoretical part of the program is delivered at the institution’s AC environment, in the afternoon, and/or remotely. The practical component is conducted in a partner organization (e.g., the Caritas Georgia Charitable Foundation) in a fully equipped simulated environment.
Learning outcomes are assessed using various methods, including written tests and observation-based practical assignments. Upon successful completion of the program and achievement of the defined learning outcomes, participants will receive a state-recognized certificate with an annex documenting the knowledge and skills acquired during the program.
Program Objective
The objective of the professional training program “Geriatric Assistant” is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to care for elderly individuals. This includes:

Providing care tailored to the person’s illness and individual characteristics.

Communicating effectively with elderly clients.

Performing care procedures such as feeding, hygiene, dressing/undressing, making beds, changing bed and personal linens, assisting with mobility, ensuring patient safety, creating a comfortable environment, transportation, and adhering to sanitary, hygienic, and epidemiological standards.
Upon completion, graduates may be employed as caregivers in long-term medical care facilities, including nursing homes, community or family-type care services, and day centers.
